A textile interpretation of reflections on water.
Reflections
This wall piece is inspired by a photograph by Daphné Caron, taken at the surface of a river. It shows the reflections of the sun filtering through the water, the luminous movements that form and deform, and the river sand in the background.
The composition plays with layers: the shapes suggest both the transparency of water, the moving shadows, and the glimmers of light. Through layers, contrasts, and irregular rhythms, the textile becomes a liquid surface — a way to translate the movement of light through the material.
Raw appliqué technique
The elements are hand-cut and then attached without folding to the background, following the raw appliqué technique. The raw edges add a lively texture, echoing the vibrant surface of the water. The manual free motion quilting structures the whole without freezing the movement.
