A textile composition inspired by the boreal forest, more specifically the fir tree.
Boréal
This wall piece was inspired by a close-up photograph of a fir branch by Daphné Caron. The image captures the natural asymmetry of the needles, their irregular rhythm, their way of occupying space.
The composition follows this logic: hand-cut shapes layered to recreate the density and movement of foliage. The cameo of greens - muted, deep or slightly bluish - evokes the natural variation of a single species. The ensemble offers a textile reading of a plant fragment, a close-up view of a simple yet lively motif.
Raw appliqué technique
The shapes are applied directly to the background, without folding, using the raw appliqué method. This technique leaves the edges free, giving the piece a more organic texture. Each line of topstitching is free-stitched by hand, adding relief and tension.
