Geneviève passed by our boutique a little by chance, on a detour to Stanbridge East. She wasn't looking for anything in particular, but something about our textile world caught her eye: the idea that a modern quilt could be a gift, an object that stands the test of time yet has a soul.
Her first thought was of a wedding gift. A grand project, to be sure, but she hesitated: would it be too ambitious, too imposing? In discussion, we refocused the question. A meaningful gift doesn't have to be big. It just has to be right, useful and thoughtful. So, in the end, she opted for a throw: a smaller piece, but just as meaningful.
Geneviève came back in person to take part in the creative process. We talked at length about the two people who would receive this gift. About their personalities, their worlds. About what unites them, and what makes them different. It's this intimate, respectful portrait that we tried to bring out in the choice of shapes, textures and, above all, colors.
A collaborative approach as we like it: attentive, human, intuitive.
And then the work in the workshop took over. A piece carefully thought out and sewn, to become this unique throw, woven with meaning and complicity.
A few days after the shipment, Geneviève wrote to us:
"Then I waited to open the parcel with my boyfriend and two girlfriends on Friday evening at the aperitif, just to keep the suspense going.
They're the only ones who've seen it so far. They were really impressed, not only by the theme, the colors and the design, but also by the process you agreed to go through with me.
I'm so happy! And I was very moved to see the result! It's very, very well done. I think the newlyweds will really appreciate it."
Creating custom pieces is all about creating bonds. Thank you, Geneviève, for your trust.
